Poor sighting system on new mirror

The mirror itself seems highly optically flat and it’s certainly light. Being optically flat the flash will be very narrow at distance so aiming the spot becomes important. The older mirror design had a mesh in the sighting system and in my experience of using identical systems this mesh is easy to use and highly effective. Sadly the newest design of this mirror has changed that for an inferior sighting insert that is much more difficult to use. I rate the mirror highly but its effectiveness as a signaling mirror is badly degraded by the new sighting system. I would not recommend this new design for emergency use.
